Using Computer Vision to Compare Island Model Parallelism With The Panmictic Model


Island-model parallelism is used with a topology designed so as to distribute unique training examples to the different islands asynchronously. Two remote computers hosted the total number of islands, which allowed for distributed evaluation. Overall performance of Island- model parallelism is compared to the panmictic/classic Genetic Programming model. A t-test analysis is applied to the results to identify if the difference between both models on a computer vision problem is statistically significant at 0.05 confidence level.
